Dermapen4 Micro-Needling

Shepparton Skin Clinic uses Dermapen 4™ skin needling technology to provide exceptional results in skin rejuvenation.

Shepparton Skin Clinic chooses to use Dermapen 4™ skin needling technology to provide exceptional results in skin rejuvenation. Considered to be the gold standard in skin needling technology, the Dermapen 4™ uses oscillating medical-grade micro needles to gently glide over the skin and encourage collagen growth, which is the key to skin repair.

What is Skin Needling?

Skin Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy – CIT) is a treatment designed to improve skin texture, smooth wrinkles, fine lines and soften scars and stretch marks. It is suitable for all skin types and all areas of the face, neck, décolletage and body.
Skin Needling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries induce a natural wound healing response of the skin, which creates a release of growth factors to the area and furthermore the depositing of new collagen and elastin.

Skin needling has evolved considerably since first being developed in the late 1990s and skin clinics now employ a variety of different instruments and different needle shapes and sizes when performing needling on patients.

How it works:

Dermapen utilises multiple needles to vertically pierce the skin with patent-pending AOVN™ (Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needle) technology.
Dermapen glides over the skin, creating millions of fine channels. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, encouraging the delivery of these nutrients deeper into the skin to feed cells in the dermis and basal layer of the epidermis.
Dermapen systematically creates micro-punctures in the skin and the body naturally responds by launching processes to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of collagen, similar to that achieved by fractional laser treatments, but without the side effects and downtime.

The most popular areas for treatment are the face, neck, decolletage, hands, arms, hairline, stomach & thighs.

When compared to traditional dermal rollers, Dermapen causes less epidermal (skin) damage, reducing levels of pain and discomfort. As a result Dermapen is a safer, more comfortable, and more effective micro-needling treatment. Dermapen’s single use cartridges eliminate risk of cross-contamination, whilst the adjustable needle depth allows for a treatment that is fully tailored to your individual needs. Dermapen is so advanced, it is even suitable and safe to use in delicate and hard to reach areas such as around the eyes, eyelids, earlobes, neck, lips and on the nose.

Unlike other methods of needling, the oscillating motor featured with pen technology dissipates nerve receptors allowing for painless and comfortable treatment. Over 1300 rejuvenating channels are created per second allowing for rapid and targeted results. For more intensive needling procedures, an anaesthetic cream may be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment. This reduces any sensitivity or discomfort; all that is felt is a mild vibrating sensation with light pressure. After the treatment, the skin will feel warm and slightly tight, similarly to that of light sunburn. This feeling will progressively reduce over a 2 day time period.

You will see a marked improvement after the first treatment itself. The best results will be visible about six to eight weeks after the treatment when the collagen starts to rebuild. Significant improvement will be visible after four to eight treatments. The results will be more visible over a period of about a year.
